Our Services Include
Spinal manipulation- involves gentle impulses applied to the moveable spinal segments in order to restore normal biomechanics and thus promoting optimal spinal health, reducing pressure from compressed joint surfaces, intervertebral discs, and tight myofascal tissue. Dr. Rippa utilizes a multitude of techniques including but not limited to:
Diversified manual technique- quick thrusts are applied to the spine in order to correct joint dysfunction. It is typically characterized by audible clicks as pressure is released within the moveable spinal segments.
Flexion-Distraction technique- utilizes a special chiropractic table in which the lower half is designed to move in multiple directions. As the patient lies on the table, the spinal segments are gently contacted and the table is moved in the opposite direction causing distraction of the joint surfaces and intervertebral discs. This technique is particularly effective for disc herniations and chronic disc degeneration.
Drop technique- involves a lever system in specialized chiropractic tables that has multiple drop sections on the table with a set tension. As a thrust is applied to the spine, the drop section is released which helps assist the adjustment.
Soft Tissue manipulation- involved various hands-on techniques the reduce stress in the soft tissues including massage therapy, trigger point muscle therapy, and therapeutic stretching in order to remove myofasclal adhesions and trigger points within the soft tissues of the body.
Electrical muscle stimulation- a modality where a very small electric current is applied directly over an injured region which helps to increase circulation and block pain especially in the acute stages of an injury.
Ultrasound therapy- when done therapeutically ultrasound therapy is a deep heating modality which penetrates very deep within the soft tissue which increases tissue temperature, stimulates healing, and reduces myofascial trigger points.
Therapeutic exercise- using a Thera-band system, exercise balls, and other equipment, flexibility and strengthening exercises are used in order to stabilize areas of weakness helping to prevent an injury from reoccurring. Typically, exercise instruction is given in the office setting and patients are given home programs in order to maintain their positive results.
Intersegmental traction- Form of spinal mobilization which a gentle prolonged stretch is applied to the spine increasing flexibility and easing pain and stiffness.
